LSCFG report Conversion

Are you confused  by the cryptic descriptions in your RS/6000 or pSeries LSCFG report?

Do you need to save time verifying PNs and FRUs on a RS/6000 or pSeries  lscfg report?

Windgate Software LLC offers a free LSCFG report conversion service.

The converted report details the specific Feature Code or Machine and Model element for any given 
FRU or PN,  (if the FRU or PN exists in our extensive database of RS/6000 and pSeries Part Numbers).


If you would like to have an lscfg report converted, do this:

1.  Prepare an email to info@riscanalysis.com with the subject line  LSCFG
2.  include your name and company name on the first line of the email body
3.  paste your lscfg report into the body of the email
4.  send the email.

Provisos:  
Text based lscfg reports only  (.txt files) - no MS-Word "doc" files,  tiff images or screenshots
Use the lscfg -vp command to generate the report  and output the report to a text based file for easier pasting into the email body

Note:
Please do not send reports in MS-Word "doc" format.

This is because MS-Word auto deletes non-breaking carriage returns, destroying the native formatting of the LSCFG report.


We will match the lscfg report against our db and email back a pdf document (click me for sample pdf)

Q.  Do I have to be a subscriber to RISC Analysis to send in a lscfg report?
A.  No.

Q.  How long will it take to get the report back?
A.  Anywhere between a few minutes and several hours depending on our current workload

Q.  Can you convert AS/400 / iSeries reports?
A.  In the near future we hope to have the same utility for AS/400 / iSeries

Q.  Why is this service free?
A.  Windgate Software LLC provides the "RISC Analysis" software application.  RISC Analysis
     is designed for dealers, resellers, third party maintainers etc. involved in the IBM RS/6000
     and pSeries platforms.  The program allows users to convert PNs and FRUs to Feature Codes,
     Machines and Models.  We also include a few proprietary configuration tools for SCSI and
     Graphics cables, along with other useful info for IBM RISC professionals. 

     Consequently, the free LSCFG report conversion service is a useful marketing tool to demonstrate
     the type of data which we provide.

     Beyond this, we benefit from occasionally finding new PNs and FRUs in the LSCFG report.  If
     your report contains a PN, FRU or component which is unrecognized, we can research the new
     item and add it to our database.
